How to Create a WordPress Website Step by Step

Before you start

You need two things: a domain name and somewhere to host it. Both can be ordered from your ServerNeed account.

Install WordPress

On shared and cloud hosting, WordPress is installed from cPanel in a few clicks. Pick the domain, set an administrator username that is not "admin", and choose a long password.

Choose a theme

Start with a theme close to what you want. Changing theme later means rebuilding every page.

Set the essentials

• Permalinks: Settings, Permalinks, Post name.
• An SSL certificate, so the site loads over https.
• Automatic updates for WordPress core and plugins.

Then publish

Write the pages a visitor actually looks for first: what you do, what it costs, and how to reach you.
